Contract renewals
Renewal is a date in the diary, not a letter in the post
The businesses that renew well are the ones that knew their end date a year out. We keep the dates, watch the window and bring options before the deadline pressure starts.
Renewal diary
Tell us your end date once. We’ll raise it with you in good time, every term.
Not sure when your contract ends? We can confirm it from your bill, or with your authority, directly with the supplier.

A renewal timeline that actually leaves you options
Nothing here requires you to commit early. It just means the decision happens on your terms rather than in the last week.
- 0112–9 months out
Get the dates on record
Confirm the end date, notice period and switching window for every supply. If you have several sites, this is where the portfolio picture starts to matter.
- 029–6 months out
Start watching the market
Most suppliers will price a renewal from around this point. Having live prices to compare over weeks rather than hours is the whole advantage of starting early.
- 036–3 months out
Decide the shape of the contract
Term length, payment terms, whether you want budget certainty or flexibility. This is a commercial decision, not just a rate hunt.
- 043–0 months out
Agree and hand over
Paperwork completed, objections checked, final readings arranged. ECR stays the point of contact through the switch and into the new term.
What we're avoiding
Three ways a renewal quietly costs a business money
Out-of-contract rates
If nothing is agreed, supply continues on the supplier's out-of-contract terms. These are set unilaterally and are typically the most expensive way a business can buy energy.
Missed notice periods
Some contracts require written notice before they can be ended. Miss it and the switch can be objected to, leaving you on rollover terms for longer than planned.
Last-week decisions
Pricing in the final fortnight means taking whatever the market is doing that day. There is no time to wait for a better window, so the market decides for you.
If you are already on out-of-contract or deemed rates, that is usually the quickest thing to fix. Send us a recent bill and we will tell you where you stand.
Preparation
What to have to hand
A renewal review takes about ten minutes on the phone if you have these. If you don't, we can work from a single recent bill.
- Latest bill for each supply (electricity and gas)
- MPAN and MPRN numbers
- Current supplier and contract end date
- Annual consumption in kWh
- Payment method and any billing preferences
- Details of any planned site changes or expansion
Next step
Give us your end date and we’ll take it from there
We’ll confirm your supply details, diarise the renewal window and come back with options you can compare properly. No obligation to switch.
